Unfortunately not all garden waste is recyclable. Garden waste that is recyclable, is called ‘green waste’. Items considered as green waste will consist of grass trimmings, weeds, leaves, and very small twigs for e.g. Green waste generally costs a lot less to dispose of... However items such as branches, plastic bags, fence panels, garden furniture, soil, bricks and plant pots are classed as ‘mixed general waste’ and cost more to bin. ‘Green waste’ generally costs at least half as much per tonne to dispose of compared to general mixed waste. That means it makes a lot of sense if you can separate your waste into two piles, before the day of clearance.

The True Cost Of Waste
Disposing of waste is a big problem and it is becoming more expensive to do so. As a business we are charged £160 per 1 tonne of rubbish by trade waste centers. This does not include our labor. As a guide, one tonne of rubbish is roughly 4-6 washing machines in weight. With the above being mentioned we understand that clearing your garden may seem a very expensive job. However, we may find items of re-sale value, which can be deducted from the Garden Clearance quote. This saves our customers money, stops landfill and it saves the planet by re-cycling. Fly-tipping is a criminal offence punishable by a fine of upto £50,000 or 12 months imprisonment if convicted in a Magistrates’ Court. The offence can attract an unlimited fine and up to 5 years imprisonment if convicted in a Crown Court. There are also a number of other possible penalties, including fixed penalty notices and having a vehicle seized. Householders can be fined up to £400 if they pass their waste to an unlicensed waste carrier which is subsequently fly-tipped - Always use a licensed waste carrier like us!
